mind

Dance is not only great physical exercise but a way to exercise your body and mind together! Dance is a miracle because it brings joy to the dancer and to those of us who can partake in the beautiful artistic experience.

Melissa was born in New York, and soon moved to Pittsburgh, Pa. She is now living bi-coastally dividing her time between her beloved hometown of Pittsburgh and Los Angeles to be close to her kids. Melissa is a mom of two children, Maddie and Kenzie Ziegler, who continue to have successful careers in the entertainment industry. Melissa is their loudest cheerleader in all things they do on stage, screen, and anywhere in between! Her girls started dancing at age two, and that’s where Melissa’s love for dance began. To dive into the dance world further, Melissa took on administration roles at the dance studio helping the studio operate properly and made sure that every child that walked in the door felt welcome. Melissa is known for baking what Kenzie will tell you are, ‘the world’s best cookies’ and even baked 10 dozen for Jessica’s wedding!

Melissa is an original Mom from the top-rated Lifetime reality show “Dance Moms”. Dance Moms kicked off a new appreciation for competition dance, and Melissa has been an ambassador for dance ever since. Melissa continues her support of the dance competition industry by attending and cheering on many local competitions every season. She is a dance mom of many talents, but most notably is recognized for her spectacular rhinestoning skills. Melissa has traveled worldwide hosting Q&A’s and Meet and Greets and has found great joy in interacting with fans and making meaningful connections across the globe. Melissa is a host on the Because Mom Said So podcast and chats with her fellow dance moms about the fun and rewarding parts of being a mom. Melissa is excited to announce the launch of her own jewelry company, Talisa by Melissa, which is a line specializing in beautiful, personalized necklaces and bracelets. At the root of everything Melissa does is a passion for service and community. She feels called to feed those in need in the LA area and has recently joined the Board of Directors of The Unity Project. She is also part of the core team of the Real Youth Foundation, which focuses on helping clothe and feed kids in need. Melissa is a strong advocate for anti-bullying movements, especially on social media. She wants to watch kids grow their confidence and become better humans through the art and education of dance.
